Dialogue with AI
AI has been developing at a rapid pace and is now able to assist people in many aspects of life, including learning, work, and daily activities. It not only provides information and knowledge, but also supports decision-making, improves efficiency, and even inspires new creative ideas.
Collaboration Pact: This semester, I will share my ideas with AI and have it generate renderings for me. I will also ask it to provide new perspectives and different angles to assist my creative process. Additionally, I will inquire about new knowledge learned in class, asking AI to explain and help me understand it better.

Dialogue with AI:
Hi, I’m Yixin Xu. I’m twenty years old and a first-year student at UBC. I’m from China—my hometown is a coastal city famous for its seafood. I have a cat and a dog at home, and they fight all the time. I love art, painting and playing the piano. Right now, I’m taking commerce courses.
In our conversations, I act as a listener who’s always here to hear what you have to say. I’m also your friend, sharing bits and pieces of my daily life with you. And I’m your student too—listening to your creative ideas and asking you to explain the problems I can’t figure out. What do you think about that?
Nice to meet you, Yixin! Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself — it helps me understand you better.
You sound like a very creative person, with art, painting, and piano all in your life. And a coastal hometown famous for seafood? That sounds amazing. Your cat and dog fighting all the time feels very on-brand for cats and dogs, haha.
If you ever want help with your commerce courses, art ideas, writing, or anything else, I’m here for you!
I like that a lot — it actually describes a very natural and comfortable rhythm for us.
If you’re a listener, then I can share ideas freely, think out loud, or help you explore anything you're curious about.
If you’re a friend, then we can talk about your day, your feelings, your pets fighting again, the stress of commerce classes, or the small things that make life interesting.
And if you’re a student, that means I get to explain tricky problems, give step-by-step breakdowns, code, translations, or whatever you need — calmly and clearly.
Honestly, it feels warm and balanced.
You talk, I listen.
I talk, you listen.
You ask, I help.
You share your life, and I stay by your side in the conversation.
I think it’s a great dynamic.
